Medical First Responder (Professional Medical Associates)

Pursue an exciting and rewarding career in the field of a Medical First Responder. PMA’s MFR is designed for individuals that are part of first responder agencies to provide initial care before the arrival of Emergency Medical Services (EMS). The MFR works with the registered levels of prehospital care, Emergency Medical Responder (EMR), Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) and Advance Care Paramedic (ACP) practitioners to ensure that patient care is available to all locations.

The goal of this course is to provide students with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to appropriately manage various traumatic and medical emergencies within the context of volunteer response, fire services, or industrial settings.

Prerequisites: Biology 30, ERCP Level 1, Anatomy and Physiology (recommended).

Course fee: $1995 (subject to change) and includes books and supplies. Students successfully completing this course will be certified to work and/or volunteer as a MFR.

Tip of Spear

This course will cover Alberta Basic Training and is recommended as a first step for students interested in Security Services and Peace Officer careers. Students will also be provided with training in defensive tactics and tactical communications. Passing this course is a prerequisite to taking the government exam, which if passed, qualifies the student to apply for their Security Services license.
