Audio Engineering 25

Course Description:

Audio Engineering 25 - Live Band Recording

Students who have completed Audio Engineering 15 at Centre High Campus may continue their progression by taking Audio 25.  This courses build on the foundational skills learned in Audio 15 while extending the application of the techniques to the art of recording live musicians in a studio environment.  Cable, patchbay and equipment soldering will be practiced.

In Audio 25, students will spend most of their time in the recording studio preparing to lead their own live recording session which will constitute the practical portion of their final exam.  Already comfortable working with ProTools, the students will experiment with drum micing, drum editing, sample replacement, instrument miking and guitar reamping in order to achieve outstanding mix results.  Comprehensive and regular use of patchbays lends itself to a focus on signal flow leading to extensive use of outboard, analog preamps, equalizers and compressors throughout recording and mixing stages.

Students will be required to plan, set up and engineer a live band recording session as well as edit and mix the deliverable asset for the artist.

Studio techniques and etiquette will be emphasized during this technical and exciting hands-on course.

A fee of $100  is required for this course and students will build, and keep, recording equipment worth $299.99

Attendance is mandatory.
